Robert Sydney Pratten was a very much admired soloist from the mid 1800's. His playing was described as with "remarkable intonation" and whilst retaining the desirable flute character powerfull especially in the lowest notes.

As well as playing and composing Pratten also worked with manufacturers of the day to try and incorporate his ideas for improvements to the flute. The most noteable of these to the conical flute were enlarging and simplifying the bore and enlarging the tone holes. The result of which is a powerfull and more even tone over the full range of the instrument.

My instrument is based on the Boosey and Co. Pratten with only a slight modification of tone hole size and position for tuning purposes.

This flute is available with or witout a tuning slide.
